Simone Biles
Biography
Regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, Simone Biles is the most decorated gymnast in history and has blazed a trail with unparalleled talent and personality.
Born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio, Simone Biles began competing in gymnastics at just 6 years old and was destined for greatness from the start. Too young to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics, Biles skyrocketed to fame in 2013. At just 16, she clinched two gold medals at the Antwerp Championship, including the coveted all-around title. It was there that she introduced the world to the “Biles” – a groundbreaking floor exercise with a half twist, double plane, that is now part of gymnastics history.
Winning four gold medals at the 2014 World Championships and four more in 2015, the young phenom was already a force to be reckoned with heading into her first Olympic Games in Rio in 2016. Biles left no room for doubt, securing gold in the all-around, team, vault, and floor exercises while claiming bronze on the balance beam.
