The pressure of performing difficult jumps in front of millions of people and handling tough interviews with grace is no stranger to Simone Biles. At a recent meeting, the gymnastics icon was asked to weigh in on one of the sports world’s most contentious debates: “Who is the greatest athlete of all time? Michael Jordan or LeBron James?” With her characteristic poise, Biles gave a response that, at least in her world, ended the debate. The moment began with a simple question from Sports Illustrated: “Michael Jordan or LeBron James?” Biles responded with a smile: “I grew up with LeBron James, so I have to say… LeBron James.” But the conversation didn’t end there. The interviewer quickly pivoted and pitted other sports legends against each other. “LeBron James or Diana Taurasi?” Biles responded firmly. “We’re covering women’s sports, so it’s Diana.” When Taurasi was up against Tiger Woods, she added: “It’s Diana again.”
But things got even more interesting when Serena Williams joined the conversation. Bills, a long outstanding fan of tennis, said, “Oh, I like Selena and I like Selena Williams. \” And when Serena was compared to Tom Brady, Bills was clear. : \ “Serena Williams!”
Did the interviewer ask the bold most recently: \ “Serenawiliams or Simon Bills? And I don’t want to reduce the greatness of other athletes.
Goat debate can recover with a hairstyle and sports fair, but Villes reflects a deeper truth. The size is not related to comparison. This is a celebration of what each athlete brings to his sports.
